A full-service commercial car wash facility was using a triplex plunger pump with a pressure regulating valve for a high-pressure, 3-gun power wash. The pump was constantly in use, running 9-1/2 hours per day, 7 days a week, 364 days per year.
The seals of the plunger pump were subject to wear, causing the pump to lose pressure. It had to be rebuilt three or four times per year and would be out of operation for a week each time. In addition, the regulator often needed replacement and annual repair costs.
