Dynapumps supply the Aurora project with water cooling pumps

News

Project Aurora, located in Moranbah Queensland (190kms from Mackay), is valued at more than $700 million and will deliver a facility which will supply explosives to the Australian mining industry. In its early stages, the project co-ordinated the dismantling of an ammonia plant in Yazoo, Mississippi and then relocated it to Australia. When complete, the ammonium nitrate facility will generate 330,000 tonnes per annum. Project Aurora is a major infrastructure project for the region.

Dynapumps’ Sydney branch manufactured the package of four Flo-Max water cooling pumps. Their ability to meet the tight deadlines whilst still being flexible to accommodate required changes won Dynapumps the order. The pumps were 2 stage 32H (800mm diameter) vertical lineshaft pumps coupled to 520 kW 980 rbm 3.3 kV motors.

The pumps were specially constructed from stainless steel to withstand the harsh environment and each pump weighed 12,580 kg. Dyapumps were able to meet stringent specifications and meet the Quality Assurance requirements which included regular visits by independent inspectors. Flo-Max pumps are one of the few remaining pumps manufactured in Australia.
