Dynapumps sponsored Velocity Race Team

News

Despite poor weather forecasts during the week, Sunday dawned clear and cool, with the track in good condition ready for the first round of the Weld West State Road Racing Championship.

Morning sessions saw Glenn Lowe and Tim Simmons (Dynapumps National HSEQ Manager) warm up for the days racing on old tyres. Both managed some impressive times, with Tim continuing to familiarise himself with the VRT #132 R1, and Glenn also continuing where he finished the end of last season.

Race Results – Glenn Lowe (#65)

B Grade Series:
Finishing in 2nd for the first race of the season, Glenn cemented his position as one of the favourites to take out the Series for 2013.

Superbike Championship
Starting from 5th Glenn would blitz the starts and pushed through to the top 2 at the start of every race for the day, however a couple of faster riders would slowly pass him as the race progressed.  Each of the three races saw Glenn finish in 6th, however due to a couple of the riders in front crashing, Glenn finished in 5th overall for the day.

Glenn Lowe: “My goals for the day were reached which were low 59 second laps, 1st or 2nd in B grade and 6th or better overall in the Superbikes. I managed 5th for the day.  Although I took good points for the day I won’t be there for Round 2, so Round 3 will be very interesting and I hope to see how fast I can overtake people.”

Race Results – Tim Simmons (#132)

Superbike Championship

Starting from mid pack due to not being in the class last year Tim managed to improve his position as the races progressed across the day.  Starting in 16th, Tim finished the first race in 10th, and then managed to secure 8th and 8th in the next two races, to finish 8th overall for the day.  Tim also managed 2nd for the day in the C Grade Superbike Championship.

Tim  reflects, “After the morning warm-up I was confident that with new tyres I’d be able to improve my lap times as the day progressed. Setting the new PB, and running consistently faster than my old one was brilliant progress, with the race results a bonus to my personal improvement. With some additional starting practice over the next few weeks and modifying my riding style further, I’m looking forward to the next Round.”

Round 2 of the Weld West State Road Racing Championship will be at Barbagello Raceway on the 30th of June. Everyone at Dynapumps will be wishing our colleague Tim and his team all the best.
