Dynapumps rewarding partnership with the Toyota Production Systems (TSSC)

News

Dynapumps has enjoyed a rewarding relationship with Toyota through the Toyota Production System Service Centre (TSSC). This journey began six years ago with several Dynapumps staff members starting as instructors, evolving into coaching, and now mentoring. We believe that this vital relationship has positively shaped both Dynapumps and TSSC.

This week, TSSC Australia celebrated a decade of collaboration with various companies, including non-profit organisations and several like-minded businesses, all dedicated to spreading the concepts of the Toyota Production System. Contrary to what the brand name suggests, this process is not about cars; it revolves around a triangle.

The three sides of this triangle include a commitment to continuous improvement, the application of lean manufacturing tools and concepts, and the emphasis on leadership and management support to facilitate problem-solving. At the centre of this triangle lies its most critical element: the people.

This week, TSSC included Dynapumps as a significant part of their story during the celebration of ten years of teamwork with various organisations. The aim has always been to teach and apply the principles of this triangle to create a positive impact on their lives and organisations.

We were pleased to welcome several senior leaders and familiar faces from TSSC Australia, as well as Jamie Bonini, the President of TSSC North America, a global leader in the Toyota Production System who visited from across the Pacific.

It was a proud moment for us to listen to our team members share their journeys. For some, it has been a long road, while others are just the beginning. We exchanged stories of our victories, challenges and our determination to apply what we have learnt to overcome these hurdles. We also discussed the early stages of sharing our experiences and lessons learned at all levels of the organisation.

Throughout the event, it was inspiring to witness so many team members engage and share their insights with our supportive mentors. Also, several Dynapumps team members told their stories online, illustrating that our journey extends beyond those physically in attendance or limited to the Kenwick service centre. In fact, the contributions from our team members outside of Kenwick intrigued many attendees.

We recognise that the road ahead will be long and fraught with challenges. However, as Jamie Bonini reflected during his visit, “Remember the tools you are using—visualisation, Kaizen projects, vertical problem-solving, and FMDS KPIs—are merely positive artifacts and tools of the system and your journey. The true pillars and foundation for completing this journey will be your people. Highly engaged people are the key.”

We are inspired by our valuable relationship with TSSC and, more importantly, our team members. They actively engage with and support one another in our journey of continuous improvement. Together, we focus on lean manufacturing principles, fostering leadership, enhancing problem-solving skills, maximising efficiency, reducing waste, and creating a safer work environment.
