Cleaning up the World with Pumps
Some of the world’s leading environmental scientists and engineers will meet in Adelaide next month for Clean-up 2011 to discuss challenges, opportunities, technical and policy solutions to protect humans, water, soil, our food and the environment from contamination.
At Cleanup 2011 Dynapumps will be exhibiting the use of pump technology for environmental soil remediation solutions.
Australia and the world are wading in a rising tide of toxicity from 83,000 man-made chemicals that pose a growing risk to human and environmental health.
CleanUp 2011 convenor Professor Ravi Naidu says: “Despite all attempts to control toxic contamination, there are signs that it is still growing worldwide. However the good news is that we now have more tools and better systems for dealing with it, safely and cost-effectively. Many of these will feature at CleanUp 2011.”
Earlier this year, Dynapumps were involved in supplying pumps to a large Australian remediation company for the extraction of hydrocarbon fractions from soil. This method of soil remediation is often referred to as pump and treat. In this particular application a Claw type vacuum pump with a 7.5 kW Ex’d Motor complete with 200 litre knock out pot (KOP) to prevent liquids entering the pump was selected. The KOP is controlled by high and low level switches to allow drainage of the KOP and the liquid is pumped away by the helical rotor pump located on the skid. Click here for Application sheet
CleanUp 2011 will be held at the Hilton Adelaide hotel in Adelaide, South Australia, from September 7-15, 2011. It incorporates the 6th International Workshop on Chemical Bioavailability in the Terrestrial Environment (7–9 September 2011) and the 4th International Contaminated Site Remediation Conference (11–15 September 2011).
